Contrary to the concept of Indian food being very spicy and rich, you will find the food of the north-eastern states quite different from the rest of India.These dishes are flavoured with herbs which are indigenous to the region. Rice is the staple food.
 
DAY 01 : Arrive Dibrugarh Ex-Delhi / Kolkata
Received at Dibrugarh airport. Drive to a Heritage Chang Bungalow in the midst of a tea garden. After lunch see the demonstration and presentation of a typical Assamese meal. Evening enjoy a cultural programme on the bungalow lawn. Overnight at the Heritage Chang Bungalow.
 
Day 02:
After breakfast get introduced to Assam and learn a few Assamese (fish based) dishes (approx cooking time 4 hours). After lunch, take a break and go for a tea tour. Visit a tea factory to learn about the manufacturing and brewing of the beverage. Overnight at the Chang Bungalow.
 
Day 03:
Today we learn the basics of cooking an Assamese style breakfast. Lunch, as usual will be cooked by you. Experiment with a few more Assamese (chicken and mutton based) delicacies. After a short rest we will make a few tea based drinks, refreshingly different from what we normally relate tea with. Evening free to go shopping or visit a weaving centre.
 
Day 04: Dibrugarh-Kaziranga:
After breakfast leave for Kaziranga (220 kms/ 5 hrs). Enroute we visit Sivasagar to explore the monuments of the Ahom dynasty. Lunch at a local restaurant. Overnight at a hotel.
 
Day 05: At Kaziranga:
Early morning enjoy an elephant safari in the central range. After breakfast visit Panbari Range. Afternoon go for a jeep safari in the western range of the National Park. Overnight at the hotel.
 
Day 06: Kaziranga-Dibrugarh:
After breakfast drive back to Dibrugarh. Afternoon at leisure. Evening sample a few dishes from Meghalaya & Mizoram.
 
Day 07:
We introduce you to a new state today - Manipur. Afternoon at leisure. Evening enjoy a Jhumur dance performance by the local tea tribes troupe. Overnight at the Chang Bungalow.
 
Day 08:
The morning will be spent making the dishes learnt on the previous days. Post lunch, we will take you to a Buddhist village (54km / 1h 25 m). Overnight at the Chang Bungalow.
 
Day 09:
Today we will experiment with the cuisine of Nagaland- you will learn a few dishes (pork based) which are special to this region. You will realise how different their style of cooking is, despite being so close to Assam. (Cooking time 4 hours).
In the evening witness a slide show and discover more of the North-East. Overnight at the Bungalow.
 
Day 10:
After breakfast drive to the river front and enjoy Bali Bhat (picnic lunch). Evening at leisure. Overnight at the Chang Bungalow.
 
Day 11:
Today when we start cooking, we will discover that the cuisine of Tripura is similar to Bengal. In the evening try and make one of the dishes best liked by you. Overnight at the Chang Bungalow.
 
Day 12:
Arunachal Pradesh - the land of dawn lit mountains. Their cuisine will unfold to you another flavour of the seven sisters. We will bring to you some dishes from this region. After lunch you will be free to exchange recipes. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the Chang Bungalow.
 
Day 13: Dibrugarh- Fly Out:
Drive to Dibrugarh airport to board flight to onward destination.
