About Purvi Discovery

We work with the basic principle of promoting, sustaining and enhancing the geographical character of a place - its environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage and above all, well-being of its residents. This naturally ensures that the destination will remain unspoiled for future generations and will also retain its inherent character.

We respect the concern of the environmentally aware travellers who patronize circuits that reduce pollution, waste, energy consumption, water usage, landscaping chemicals and excessive lighting at night and we put these into actual practice while organising our tours. Geotourism, which by its nature, is quite akin to ecotourism, synergizes all the elements of geographical characters which work together to create a tourist experience which appeal to visitors of diverse interests. Consequently, the local residents discover their own heritage through realizing that things that they generally take for granted, may generate immense interest for outsiders. This also economically benefits the local residents.

The Northeast of India where we primarily operate is indeed the abode of the gods with abundant gifts of nature and matchless scenic beauty. At a time when the world has been moving at a fast pace to the brink of an ecological disaster - unaware and quite unconcerned - Purvi Discovery, ever since its inception, has been playing a very responsible role as tour operators in minimizing the damage caused by environmental pollution and the green house effects, by practicing eco-tourism.

Apart from protection of environment, we have directed our efforts towards conservation of customs, culture and rich traditions of myriads of tribes both in the hills and plains of this region, some of which are almost on the verge of extinction, by creating economic opportunities for them and by show-casing their distinctively rich culture. Two such endeavours are the collaborative projects that we have taken up with the local Mishmi tribes in Wakro and Roing in Arunachal Pradesh. They are still relatively untouched and unspoiled by our fast moving modern life-style.

Through the project, we are sharply focused on promoting environmental awareness and protecting the fragile bio-diversity in the region. Visits to these camps will conjure up for a true nature lover, the charm of a lost world. Our nature-walks "through verdurous gloom and winding mossy ways", will remind one of John Keats. The stay in the Mishmi huts will be a life-time experience ~ warmth of hearts and homely reception by the children of nature, will touch a tender string in even a casual visitor.
